For the final Twine project, I made an interactive fiction over 40 pages based on a dérive of my town. The story follows the player's-an autobiographical character-emotional experiences that are linked to specific locations. The game however, includes elements of death and mental illnesses, thus I included a trigger warning in the game's description on itch.io.
I used the Oblique strategy cards to create the narrative. The cards were:
I recorded myself reading the lyrics of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8er Boi" on Otter and generated a CharNG text. It was used in the "words going in and out from head" passage. On Googlism, I searched the word "Skateboard" and it generated a sentence (“Skateboard is an agent of destruction”), I used it as part of the text. Through Botnik, I generated a random sentence ("I could have gone off to see what keeps me alive") and made it appear as a graffiti writing. I also used N+7 and inputted the "Sk8ter Boi" lyrics and came up with a sentence ("See ya later, bramble.") and used it as part of a dialogue. I came up with "Baked Taros" (anagram of Skateboard) through Anagram generator and made it a menu of a boba place. Finally, (I do not know if I understood the meaning of crowdsourcing correctly but-) my plan for implementing crowdsourcing in the game is to make a page where players can choose a skateboard design created by different users.
